I didn't want to put this in the main thread because my donation was not entirely or even maybe mostly an act of altruism, but I hated not to share it with this board. When I went to my local liquor store to pick up wines and such for Christmas Eve and Christmas, I discovered they are running a lottery, all proceeds to go to the Boston Food Bank. The prize? The right to purchase a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle. Tickets are $10. I bought a couple and asked the clerk who else was buying them. "Everybody." she replied. So a worthy charity will get a significant donation (It's the biggest and best wine store in a four town radius during its primo sales period).
