As I suspected initially, there are some questions about the methodology of this robopoll – from that noted right wing apologist, um, NBC's Chuck Todd:

"I think this question was designed to get a higher percentage in the answer than maybe what's actually true," Todd said on Tuesday's Today Show.

"...the way the question was asked, I think it just was designed to get a higher number. Because there are some Republicans who...may not believe he's a Muslim, but like saying it because it's a way to attack him. It's sort of a way to needle him....it's certainly created a buzz among liberals who are trying to create a stereotype among base conservative voters."

Which was the point, of course.

I've gotta channel my inner Zag/OT/AngryWhiteMale here and point out that I saw this video and I thought it was pretty lazy, and I don't think Maher should have aired it.

I don't see anything concrete in that column that is anything more than, "They cherry-picked their interviewees."

Again: It's the least educated state in the union. That might not have been a representative cross-section of the state as a whole. But it certainly was representative of a subgroup that is more prevalent there than in 49 other states.

I've taken two of these surveys in the last month, and I wasn't asked anything about Obama's religion. I wonder if they only do that down south...

Oh. So if you don't actually believe that Obama's a Muslim, but you use it as a line of attack, that's OK. Because of course, being a Muslim is something that it's OK to attack someone for. It's just the same as calling him a liberal, or a socialist.

So it's not that they're STUPID. It's that they're BIGOTED.

Some, sure. 52 percent? No freaking way. Even if half of them were ****ing around with the poll, that would leave 26 percent who really believe it.
