50 years ago Ali shocked the world, but not the Feds

On the anniversary of Ali's stunning win over Liston, the Washington Times reports the FBI suspected the fight was fixed by the mob.

4-decade-old documents released to The Washington Times under the Freedom of Information Act show the FBI suspected the fight may have been fixed by a Las Vegas figure tied to organized crime and to Liston. The documents show no evidence that Ali was in on the scheme or even knew about it. And nothing suggests the bureau ever fully corroborated the suspicions it investigated.

Liston was mob-connected, but if he tanked the fight he would have done it with a lot less punishment. Also, Liston and/or his corner put a substance on his gloves which blinded Ali. I saw the fight tonight and Ali just was too fast and in a lot better condition.

Now if you want to talk about the second fight....
