I'd like to see UEFA take it a step further and say, "While we are at it, Gio gots ta go. Either he resigns and takes his bull**** peace prize with him, or we're done."
You would think he'd fall on his sword if the deal is thoroughly rejected officially, as appears to be happening, buy as we're learning the hard way in this country, you never know what the power hungry will do to stay in power.

Wrong thread, sure .... but: How come this is all happening when Trump got involved in the World Cup?
Grifters gotta grift.

My assumption is through Trump, Infantino got introduced to Jared Kushner. His younger brother is the point man on this whole deal along with JP Morgan Chase. I'm sure the Saudi PIF would like to buy a big stake in FIFA tournaments, so they're probably involved too.

It’s just such a ridiculous overreach. Fans are mad about the ticket prices but way more mad about the hydration breaks and this proves that the point of everything is to enforce the oligarch class.

Dude was in a position where he could have done absolutely nothing and he wouldn’t live long enough to count all the checks coming in. But he had to go and fumble the bag in spectacular fashion.

The guy who insisted that he be shown once a half on every broadcast? Say it isn’t so.

"If you'd let us FINISH!" So FIFA is MAD mad. But sure, they were definitely going to consult the "FIFA Family" first until those meddling journalists got in the way of their fait accompli. I don't see how this ends with anything other than Infantino getting tossed out on his ear or total capitulation to the almighty dollar and FIFA killing its golden egg-laying goose.

FIFA recognizes 211 national associations. Right now there are 136 (46 Asia, 35 CONCACAF, 55 UEFA) aligned against Infantino's money grab. "Serious concerns" don't necessarily round up to "support a boycott", but the fact the confederation that includes Infantino's current home (Qatar) is on board does not bode well for his chances.
AFC stands in solidarity with UEFA and CONCACAF to protect the FIFA World Cup
The AFC stands in solidarity with UEFA and CONCACAF in expressing serious concerns over FIFA’s proposal to introduce private investment into FIFA's flagship competitions and the decision-making process around FFE. The fact that the situation has reached the point where the real possibility of a FIFA World Cup boycott has entered public discourse should concern everyone who cares about the future of our game. Football should never have been placed in such a position.
Against this backdrop, and in light of the clear positions expressed by UEFA and CONCACAF, as well as the unprecedented divisions that have emerged across the football world, the AFC believes that the proposed FFE cannot realistically achieve the necessary broad consensus and unity required to move forward. The FIFA World Cup is the pinnacle of global football and derives its strength from the participation of all Confederations and the world’s leading football nations. Any proposal that risks undermining the unity and universal character of the competition must be reconsidered.
While the immediate debate centres on FFE, the AFC considers this issue extends far beyond a single proposal. Rather, it has exposed fundamental weaknesses in FIFA’s consultation and decision-making processes that must now be addressed. While the AFC notes FIFA’s latest clarification on the proposal, the central concerns surrounding governance, institutional process and meaningful consultation remain unanswered.

If these groups are serious in standing against this, today would be a great day for a public call for his resignation.
