They were expecting 40,000 at the SkyDome today (I refuse to ever call it by its corporate name) and they got 20,000.

Which is a shame, because the ones who didn't show up seem to have missed a really exciting game, with the ARRRRRRRRGOOOOOOOOS beating the Stamps 39-36 on a field goal with no time remaining.

Looks like the game shouldn't have been anywhere near that close, with Toronto dominating Calgary on offence, 518-257 in total yards. Ray threw for 407.

I watched most of it, very entertaining stuff. Horrific crowd for a heavily promoted game on a perfect day.

The Argos need a venue like the Alouettes have in Molson Stadium.

The soccer field at Exhibition Place would have been perfect if the city had been smart enough to build it to accommodate something other than soccer.

Glad I missed today's Eskimos game against the Roughriders. 17-1. Saw some of the highlights, if you can call them that. Just terrible. The Eskimos officially have no one that can play QB. Going to be a long freaking year.

Agreed. they also missed out on a return to Varsity when a multi-sport complex was greenlighted for renovations as opposed to a 25,000-seat stadium.

Watched most of the game, and my goodness. I don't know if Edmonton's offensive line was that bad or Saskatchewan's was that good, but the Riders were just dominating that battle. The EE QB never had a chance.

Again, didn't watch it, but it is probably a combination of both. The Eskimos offensive line has been terrible for about five or six seasons now. But then Jyles is just terrible. If he's not able to complete on first down the defence is just going to pin its ears back all day and this is what happened.

He's kind of picked up where he left off last year. Which is surprising because Burris has been bad this year. And Noel Prefontaine can no longer kick.

Also, while the Eskimos routed the Bombers, that was due to the defence. I just get angry now watching Jyles and it's only Week 3. It's going to be a long season.

The one that sprung him on the goal line was pretty close to it. Ref's argument, i'm sure was that he got him more from the shoulder.

Tristan Jackson of the Roughriders was almost as impressive last night, with missed field goal returns totalling nearly 200 yards, including a 129-yard TD that tied the CFL record for longest ever.

The "no-yards" rule and the potential for a rouge on a missed FG are two things I've come to really enjoy about the CFL -- it allows for some great action in the return game.

Every game I've watched this year, there has either been a punt or MFG return for TD, and in most cases, multiple returns for TDs.

I love the CFL but the officiating is an absolute joke.

Oh it is, but I'm not sure there is a whole lot they can do about it considering their pool. I've basically come to just hope that the bounces even out over the course of a season.

Battle of Alberta is tough to beat. The Labour Day game and then return match are almost always classics, especially the return game a couple of days later where both teams are dead tired and beat to ****. There's the odd blow out, but I don't think that'll be the case this year. Should be some damn good football between the two, even if the Eskimos don't have a quarterback -- maybe Nichols or Masoli will be starting by then -- both teams a pretty even this year.

The league has just announced that Ottawa will be returning in 2014.

Doubt it will be called the Rough Riders.

I thought last time around the Ottawa's team should have been called the Beavers not the Renegades, and I stand by that now for the new team.

Beavers merchandise would likely rival Riders gear within five years if they went with it. I'm sure the innuendo would be enough to stop them from going that route, however.
