Can't believe this hasn't been mentioned: Mark Teahen was traded to the White Sox for Josh Fields and Chris Getz.

I guess the White Sox finally got sick of waiting on Fields. Does this mean Beckham goes back to the middle infield and Teahen plays third?

I'd say Teahen is more likely to replace Dye in RF. Not sure he's got the bat for it, but there you go.

I thought Rios was going to be Dye's replacement in right, though I guess they could play him in center.

I'm liking that trade for the Royals. Trading a $5 million Teahen for two cheaper Teahens (still 10 years of cost control between them) gives the Royals some options.

Teahen is good, but won't come close to the numbers of Dye, so that's a good thing for the other teams in the Central.

Shut up.

As for the Teahen trade, if he does replace Dye, that's not much of a tradeoff, although if he's the main utility/bench guy, that's great.

Angels' offseason gets off to a good start: Bobby Abreu re-signed for two years plus an option:

Agreed. What are they doing with Podsednik and Thome? Teahen is fine if he is going to play a utility role, he is not a comparable replacement for Dye.

Thome's a free agent, I believe, and finished the season with the Dodgers.

Ugh. My bad. Wasn't even thinking there. Utter fail by me.

What about Pods?

I assume Pods won't be resigned. Hopefully they resign Dye, put Teahan at 3rd and move Beckham to the middle infield.

Red Sox get Jeremy Hermida from the Marlins for two lefty pitchers, one who was a rookie in 2009 (Hunter Jones) and another who is deep in the minors (Jose Alvarez):

I suppose this means the Red Sox don't like their chances of re-signing Jason Bay. Hermida was very much an underachiever with the Fish even when he was healthy, but the guy was a major prospect a few years ago. Very similar skill set to Kevin Youkilis as a hitter.

No idea. I do wonder if Thome will come back and where. Made no sense for him to ride the pine in LA.

Link doesn't fire, Buck. Here's one that works:

Where else is Bay going to go? Yankees? Mets? Would the Giants open up the pbocketbook? They could certainly use the bat.
