I'm not rooting for a mugging but perhaps a few crooks in NYC will read the Post, meander to the Upper East Side, look for a birkin and then snatch away.

Yeah, that's sick. At that level of wealth – the One-Percenters – it's all about status.
That kind of social climbing is unhealthy, and this article touches on only part of it.

Does anyone ever really need a 25,000-square-foot house? How about 35,000?
In the end, what do you do with all of it? Much of it ends up unused, or even walled off.
I drive pretty often on one of the wealthiest stretches of road on this coast, and the houses facing the water are stunning. But why the hell would I need 8 bedrooms? Just because I can afford it? Much rather have a small, manageable beachfront house.

My guess would be the level of policing in areas where these folks live is as high as it gets in NYC.

1 room for the coke, 1 room for the orgies, 2 rooms for the brats when they aren't at private school in the Alps, 1 room for me and 1 room for hubbie and his *****, a room for the nanny and 1 room for "the help"

If I were a single man, I would make it my life's mission to find and bang the 22-27 year old daughter's of these types of people. The look of disgust on their faces when their precious children brought some asshat like me home would be worth every. single. penny.
"Nice to meet you, Ms. VonPutersmit. I just have to let you know your daughter sucks a mean ****."

So we're working with broad stereotypes here. ... but a surprising number of the kids who grow up along Park Avenue are screwed up way beyond sleeping with you. If "Primates of Park Avenue" is about a clique of women (I haven't read it -- just read some reviews), there is a whole other book about the offspring of those primates -- who are largely left to raise themselves with credit cards with no limits and Manhattan as their playgrounds. You can imagine what that often leads to.

Degenerate sex and drugs? This is starting to sound better than journalism.

Even a cursory glance should've caught most of those lies. Let alone a basic edit.

The Post editors take "asleep at the wheel" to a whole new level here.

Well, of course parts of it are made up. That's just a common narrative technique nowadays:

“Primates of Park Avenue,” a memoir on the secluded lives of Upper East Side wives, set off a rush of skeptical commentary over what appeared to be the outré rituals, like “wife bonuses,” of New York’s wealthy elite.

On Sunday, after a report that there were factual errors in the book, the publisher, Simon & Schuster, said it would append a note to future editions of the book, written by the social researcher Wednesday Martin, clarifying that some of the memoir’s details and chronologies were changed.

“It is a common narrative technique in memoirs for some names, identifying characteristics and chronologies to be adjusted or disguised, and that is the case with ‘Primates of Park Avenue,’ ” said Cary Goldstein, vice president and executive director of publicity at the publisher.

“A clarifying note will be added to the e-book and to subsequent print editions.”

Life as it really is today on Fifth Avenue:

That looks a bit like the scene:

"Every sperm is sacred, every sperm is great..."
