Your criteria for the Heisman Trophy?

Someone who has a vote can post the sentence verbatim on this thread, but the ballot asks voters to pick "the most outstanding player" in college football, right?

What does that mean to you? I think it's a subjective term. Clearly, the "best" player doesn't win every year. Defensive players don't have a chance. A tackle might be the best in the country but won't get a sniff.

I'd like to see the different opinions -- not on this year's race -- but on what makes someone a Heisman Trophy winner. Does "most outstanding" mean the same as "best" to you?

Seeing that list just makes me angry. Jason White beating Larry Fitzgerald was such a joke, Fitzgerald was by far the best football player that year. Sorry for the threadjack so early.
