How do you score a dual meet for high school matches?

If memory serves it is:
6 points for a pin
5 points for a technical fall
4 points for a major decision
3 points for a decision and forfeit

I think you are right. I couldn't remember.

Yeah, all those "weird" things are six points -- forfeit, win by disqualification, win by injury default.

And just to be complete -- a draw is 2 points each. If your state still allows draws.

I don't think there are draws anymore. There's a 2-minute sudden death period with the first takedown winning, then 30 seconds (I think) with one guy in the top position, one on the bottom. The guy on the bottom gets out, he wins, the guy on top rides him for 30 seconds, he wins.

Obviously, dual meets are not as fun as tournaments, but I just try to find that one matchup that is really good and focus on it. Or do a little research on your team and find out if they are a better dual team or a better tournament team.
It was always strange to me how a team that was 12-12 in duals in the regular season could contend for the state team title because they had three awesome kids and the rest were just average.
