I know I'm going to rile some feathers here, but I'm about to hit the hay and need to have something to read when I get up in the morning.

I just want to be the first to say that I'm rapidly growing tired of some of the idosyncracies that seem to have found their way into the language used by folks here and in the larger online media realm. Frankly, and I'm probably going to be declared culturally dead for this, I have no idea how the "Wow. Just wow." thing began. But I cringe every time I read it. I suppose it's the modern version of some stupid **** that I said in past years. But is there something about it that is particularly witty, cool or insightful?

Actually, it's not just this statement. It's this trend toward separating words or phrases by periods, which apparently adds emphasis. While it bothers me, I'm not trying to be an asshole here. I just want to understand how this became a part of the culture and what significance it has.

I blame. Mike. Lopresti.

I googled and found no information. It just has to be a pop culture thing. Rome, maybe? That would explain it. I'd rather listen to Rosie O'Donnell.

I'm the same way with "Ewwwwww," which, I belive is a Friends thing. Can't stand it. Along with other phrases.

I'm also not fond of the "I just threw up in my mouth" thing, for what should be obvious reasons. I thought a guy had created that when I kept seeing it in his writing. Then I saw it in the writing of a few other folks. Now everybody says it. It's not that I don't get the premises. I just think using a little creativity might be a good way to separate one writer from another.

There have been variations of (insert soda) all over my keyboard.

Someone. Needs. To get. A Life.

Whatever. :)

I thought the "Adjective. Noun. Ever." meme came from the Simpsons' metacritic Comic Book Guy, and most derivatives could branch from it. I find it irritating myself, but whatever, it's your thang, do wha'choo gonna do now.

To me, the Wow. Just Wow. thing is just someone being stunned. Saying 'Wow." then having nothing to follow up with, and adding that that's all they have.

It has never struck me as anything odd. Guess that's just me.
