Don't knock it 'till you've tried it.

Most people aren't Pius douchebags and are realists. Double Downs post couldn't have said it any better**** Whitman said:Although I told someone here that I think kids should get second chances after demonstrably isolated indiscretions, I also think that it is perfectly reasonable not to vote for Newton this year. I'm surprised so many people are up in arms about that, like Doyel. Under the language just posted, any voter clearly is entitled to a a reasonable doubt about whether Newton has played his career with the requisite amount of "integrity," is it not?

There is no arguing with this.
Actually, there may be some arguing with that.
Via www.heisman.com:
The Heisman Memorial Trophy annually recognizes the outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity. Winners epitomize great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work.
The best football player might not "best exhibit the pursuit of excellence with integrity." Unless voting instructions are different, there's a little room to wiggle.
And because of the nepotism thing, Tebow would win every year.Twoback said:jlee said:Twoback said:If you have a Heisman vote and vote for anyone other than the best football player, your vote is fraudulent.

Only God should have a Heisman vote then.

It didn't happen last year with Ndamukong Suh.

Should "only God" get to suspend players? Should "only God" get to fine players in professional leagues? Should "only God" get to write criminal justice laws?
Hypocritical as it can be sometimes, this is still college sports. The voting rule is written in a way that is supposed to highlight the integrity that is supposed to be a part of amateur sports, ideally. I bet almost every amateur sports award guideline in the nation is written similarly.
One thing I just hate is that this debate is being fought on the battle ground of the non-Newton-voting people's motives. That, of course, is something we can never know for sure. But it doesn't stop the Doyels and radio hosts of the world for taking them out for being sanctimonious and grandstanding.
I'd rather see people substantively argue why that is not the way that someone should vote. The motives attack is an ad hominem, unprovable attack that just misdirects us from the substances of the debate. I hate that.

To say Cam Newton had no idea his daddy was shopping him around is utterly naive. We all know if Cam Newton played at Arkansas State he'd have never been reinstated.

For God's sake, give the kid his Heisman. He's earned it with all the soulless assholes he helped make rich this season, and that should probably include people who go on television in $1,500 suits and wag their finger at him and his dad for soiling the virgin sheets of major college football.
I think the answer to this question that the thread asks is for you to go look in the mirror.
If you want to rip people, or make fun of them like a little junior high adolescent, why don't you do it here, or handle it via PM, instead of going to your little Disney Land with Zeke and Doc and all the other morons and outing people there?
You guys are pathetic. Every last one of you.
Grow up.
