The Tribune Co., in the throes of bankruptcy, is developing a proprietary tablet that would aggregate Tribune content for the user. Would be given to the user free of charge.
Oh, and the tablet -- most likely -- would be rendered a technological dinosaur in a matter of months. ("Paging RIM, RIM please pick up the white courtesy phone and tell Tribune Co. the difficulties of the tablet market.")

Tribune Co. developing "New Coke."
This won't end well.

The longer I work in this industry, and the more I see how ill-equipped it is for the high-tech future, the more I'm convinced almost every traditional newspaper company WILL NOT be the primary sources of information in their community going forward.
