Late Monday night, former Chicago newspaper columnist and radio host Jay Mariotti wrote a blog regarding the recent extreme bullying allegations within the Miami Dolphins football team. At the end of the long blog, Mariotti casually dropped a bombshell, alleging that he was the surprise target of bullying in his former Chicago workplace.

Conversation at Wrigley Field:

Jay Mariotti to Rick Telander: I would love to punch you.

Telander: That would be the saddest day of your life.

Mariotti trying to paint himself as the poor widdle bullying victim. So shameless that guy is. Who else suspects the coworkers that allegedly wanted to punch him had good cause?

The more I read about him, punching Mariotti is a good cause [/bluefont]

"One of them, an older columnist who didn't like me and the fact I was on national TV, challenged me to two fist fights -- right there and then -- for no good reason. I'd just laugh at the guy and alert a press-box guard, then let the editors know they had hotheads in the ranks and that it wasn't good for morale or outside perceptions. "

Dooleyfish -- "I tattled on him"

I never thought of Telander as particularly older than Mariotti, but he is -- about 10-11 years.

Although I am sure Telander could probably still make a hot wreck out of Mariotti any time he felt like it.

Of course Mariotti could have been referring to any number of people when he describes columnists who wanted to punch him in the face.

Hell, I'm older than Mariotti and I'd love to punch him in the face.

Wasn't Telander an NFL draft pick out of college? Yeah, I'd say he'd have made quick work out of ole Jay, regardless of age difference.

He was an all-Big Ten DB for Northwestern, during a time period in which they were semi-decent, and stuck with the Chiefs until the last cut of training camp in 1971.

So indeed it would have been a very sad day for Jay-boy had he decided to take a shot.

Might have been Ebert. Who took him down in print after Mariotti bailed on the CST.

There would have been a call to a local funeral home if Jay wanted to **** with Telander.

Back to hab's question....LeBastard gets the nod from here.
