We here in New England just had an earthquake. 4.5, centered in southern Maine, and quite emphatically felt here in Lexington, Mass., at least at my house.

I have no idea of the geology of New England except that it has lots of rocks right underneath wherever you want or need to dig.

I don't think it's that rare, but usually on a very small scale. The CBS sports station out of Boston had a meteorologist on for a few minutes. Some Intretesting stuff. Did you know the Richter Scale is no longer used to measure quakes?
