Rich Stadium, July, 1975. A warm Monday night, my arms wrapped around my then-girlfriend as we stood, swayed and sang along with Frey on "Ol' 55" near the end of a wonderful concert. I was 21, she was days away from turning 20, and it was one of the best days of my life up to that time.

Some think the Eagles suck, but for me, they invoke a memory will stay with me to my dying day.

The Eagles definitely do not suck, but I only rate "Hotel California" and "The Long Run." The rest of their body of work has its hits and misses. Mostly hits.

I also enjoyed Henley and Frey's solo work in the 1980s. much like I enjoy the former Beatles' solo work in the 1970s. Two (plus) for the price of one, etc.

Told us the Eagles were the devil’s music because of Hotel California
We all wondered about his story
He didn’t have any vices
He drank lots of coffee but it was decaf
Then one day, we were in the break room and somebody was talking about a friend of his who had the DT’s
Guy was getting coffee
He turned around and said: “Oh yeah. They’re pretty intense.”
