The Journal newspaper, based in Raymore, Mo., is looking for a sports editor to start Aug. 14. Just 20 minutes south of Kansas City, our weekly puts a heavy emphasis on high school sports. We're a small family-owned paper, so we don't have a staff to manage, but you will have the freedom to shape the section with your vision. We also think it's not the best idea to give away our content online, and our circulation has been growing every month.

The ideal candidate will have writing, photography, design and editing skills, but we're willing to teach the right person. You'll have your own office and camera, along with all necessary equipment to do your job.

Please send resumes and cover letters to: [email protected]. If you have additional questions, post them here or pm us. We're more than willing to help any way we can!

Anyone know what the pay scale might be for this?

Is it sports editor or sports reporter? The Missouri Press Association Web site lists "reporter".

Raymore is my kind of town.

The title is editor, but you'll be doing the reporting, photography, editing and page design.

Pay is negotiable based on your experience, though this is likely more of a first job. (Think around 20k)
