Crazy scenario in Boise this past weekend for the ECHL Western Conference Finals.
Top seed Idaho Steelheads couldn't find hotel rooms for the Toledo Walleye (told you it was fishy) after Game 1 on Saturday, so the players had to sleep at the arena.
Reason being? All the hotels, including the arena's hotel, was booked between myriad of events happening in town, including HS sports events and a Luke Combs show at BSU.
Players slept in the luxury suites, which could be converted into hotel rooms, so it's not like the guys were sleeping on the floor...but
...Toledo lost both Games 1 & 2, 3-0.

Hotel fiasco: Walleye players forced to sleep at arena after Game 1 in Idaho

Briggs: Were Walleye sabotaged with fleabag hotel and midnight fire alarm? No, but debacle was avoidable

Anything below the equivalent of AAA baseball in hockey has to be given side-eye in America. The tell is turnbuckles along the glass.

I find it difficult to believe that the third-largest city in the Pacific Northwest was that solidly booked.
