Position Title: Social Media Strategist
Department: Digital Media
Reports To: Manager, Digital / Social Media & Photo Operations
Position Location: INDYCAR Offices
Specific Duties:
  • Manages and posts written content, photos, graphics and video on all of Indianapolis Motor Speedway and INDYCAR social media channels, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.
  • Creatively presents brand messages and the brand itself in a positive manner via social media, while also monitoring buzz and sentiment related to the IMS/INDYCAR on social media.
  • Monitor all INDYCAR driver’s social media channels, assist drivers in verifying accounts, works to identify fake accounts and follows up with social contacts to ensure fake accounts are deleted.
  • Works in tandem with other departments including marketing, sales, partner strategies, facilities, ticketing, merchandising, public relations and operations to post relevant content and fulfill the facility/league obligations to sponsors and other stakeholders.
  • Leverages social media to drive traffic to brand websites.
  • Works with outside vendors in conjunction with internal departments to develop unique campaigns, promotions, sweepstakes, contests, games and other engagement tactics on brand social media channels.
  • Post content from all IMS and INDYCAR events.
  • Maintains an extensive working knowledge of current industry standards and best practices as they pertain to social media.
  • Identifies new platforms for our brands to join.
  • Utilizes analytics to monitor and improve social media traffic and fan engagement.
  • Assists marketing and public relations staff in day-to-day on an as needed basis.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager, Digital/Social Media and Photo Operations.
Qualifications:
  • Degree in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing or relevant experience.
  • Experience in using Adobe creative suite. Specifically, photoshop and premiere pro.
  • Skill in graphic design.
  • Professional social media experience in a sports or event capacity preferred.
  • Must have excellent writing, communication and proofreading skills.
  • Able to work flexible hours including, some nights, weekends and holidays.
