Slate thinks that the Giants should have signed Colin Kaepernick rather than promoting Geno Smith

If they were going to do that, it should have been 6 months ago. Sign Kaepernick rather than Smith

I don't think the big conspiracy is that Kaepernick is on some blacklist - the big conspiracy is that the NFL owners are more worried about their bottom lines than doing all they can to win a Super Bowl - or at least as many games as possible. Fans have supported some really crappy NFL teams many times over the years - sponsors have sought to have their brands associated with a controversy never.

There is a legitimate take to be made regarding Colin Kaepernick’s joblessness.

Making every quarterback depth chart move about Colin Kaepernick sacrifices the credibility of the writer, the publication and, frankly, Kaepernick’s plight.

Yes it does.

Kaepernick is by far my favorite take-a-kneeer.

Seems like a strange take, with the caveat that I’m just a guy who doesn’t actually practice journalism.

Eli Manning Replaced by Geno Smith. (Colin Kaepernick Still Jobless.)

1. I agree that it's a dumb take, and I've been advocating for CK for much of the year before I deleted Twitter. I may be a pinko liberal, but I understand football first and Kaep becoming the Giants starter is laughably dumb.

2. You're still mad about my journalism comment, but you yourself said it. If you were my editor, I'd win Pulitzers. Because you have the highest journalism standard of all. Your mistake was trying to elevate your boy YF to a place of equals by suggesting "actually it's about ethics in political journalism" for his various right-wing rants. You're the one who let friendship take you into the sunken place, not me. You do love journalism. Yankee doesn't. He likes reading, and triggering liberals. It's a shame you conflated to two because you like him and like his critics far less. (And I'm not even one of his critics! I stick up for him all the time!)

We could kill all rumors (save Winona State) on this board if the Vols hire Gruden, who then hires Kaepernick.

Geno is making less than 2 mil this year. The option Kaep turned down for this season was just a tad bit higher. But great article:rolleyes:

Kaepernick didn't turn down ****. They were cutting him. I don't know why people keep dredging up that fiction. (Well, I do, but it's still fiction.)

He didn't take the option. They could have restructured the contract.
They could have cut him. You think he was signing with the Giants if they offered him 2 mil?

This is entirely wrong.

The team told him they were going to cut him if he didn't opt out of his contract, so he opted out of his contract. There was no restructuring the contract. He was being let go. Opting out simply allowed him to hit the market a little sooner.

Would he have taken $2 million? I don't know. He may have. Moot point, since no one is willing to speak to him.

He made about 12 mil in 16. Yeah I'm sure he would've taken that.
