The guy sitting in the White House doesn't think so.

He also thinks the voters in Ohio will agree with him.

What about you? Do you think it's unpatriotic to store millions of your hard earned money in locations that are often used by others to dodge taxes?

On the list of things I give a **** about when deciding for whom I'm going to vote, this is near the bottom.

It actually shows good judgment.

The way we have been ****ting all over the U.S. dollar with destructive monetary policy, and a bloated Fed balance sheet of $3 trillion worth of U.S. treasuries and toxic assets, if I had to keep my assets in one currency rather than in hard assets (which is the smart thing to do), I'd strongly consider the Swiss Franc. It's the safest, safe haven currency -- as long as the SNB doesn't intervene, which it will do (which is why I wouldn't make a perma Swiss Franc/U.S. dollar play). The U.S. dollar is complete **** and is going to get ****tier as people wake up to the mess we have created and keep digging ourselves deeper into. Your money is worth more just by having it in Switzerland rather than in the U.S.

I was going to hide my money overseas once, but come to find out you can't open a Swiss account with $33.47.

Why does the President need a bank account at all? Ever seen one reach for his wallet?

When I saw the thread title, I thought it was coming out that Obama has a Swiss bank account. My reaction to that idea was the same as the reality that Romney has one:

No, the President should not keep his money offshore or in Swiss bank accounts.

Mitt Romney, however, is not President, so he can do as he damn well pleases with his money.

And, as Sonner says, of the reasons to vote for or against someone, it is pretty far down the list.

Obama does...and pays cash.

...or, sometimes, credit.

Should the President have made most of his money from an autobiography that Oprah was plugging before he had really accomplished anything?

Thread is mis-titled ... a more accurate title would be "Yet Another Reason Why I Think This Man Shouldn't Be President" ...

You might want to look at a timeline or something, because this makes no sense.

JFK had a Swiss bank account. All of the Kennedy's did. Joe Sr. was no fool with money. Not a big deal then and not a big deal now.

Of course on a board where there is 90% support for Obama - I'm not counting on any reasonable clear-minded thinking.

I wonder if he saves as much in taxes by doing this as John Kerry did by mooring his big boat in Rhode Island.

I'm sure we'll find out.

Do we have 10%???

This actually makes the dog debate (eating them vs. putting them on the roof) seem intelligent.

On a good day, maybe. It's probably closer to five percent.

Different standards for different parties. Republicans have to have "cleaner" personal lives because that's what they often call for in society.

For money, Democrats call for higher taxes. Romney with a Swiss bank account shouldn't resonate. John Kerry and the yacht is different because his party calls for higher taxes and plays class warfare. Kerry keeping his yacht in RI rings very, very hollow for a tax and spender.
