I already get the SEC Network. It's called CBS...

Your brain is too footbally. I think we're all forgetting the main point of this -- hours and hours of televised volleyball with multiple camera angles.

* ESPN will target the widest distribution possible in the 11-state geographic footprint and service nationally the way ESPNU is today. "We believe this conference has national appeal," ESPN President John Skipper said.

Does that mean it will be part of my expanded sports package? If so, this is terrific.

I see these college conferences and their distribution as cable's preparation for the horrible day (for them) that political pressure forces the end of bundling and allows menu cable choice. SEC TV will have a built-in market to cushion the blow of many consumers deciding that college lacrosse day does not justify the cost of ESPNU.

MUST. HAVE. TRIPLEHEADER FOOTBALL!

Missouri at Kentucky, noon

Arkansas at Mississippi State, 3:30 pm.

Tennessee at Vanderbilt, 7 p.m.

CBS and ESPN are still going to eat up anything worth watching.

ESPN has a stake in this. They'll give it enough good games to get it on cable systems.

Just noticed the URL. Great stuff right there.
As for the announcement, it's going to be a huge money deal for all of the schools. I just hope it might be a part of my cable sports package.

I'll be curious if the SEC Network will ever get a conference game with LSU, Alabama or Florida.

Oh, they will against the likes of Vandy or Ole Miss. If nothing else, just to artificially prop up the ratings.

Michigan and Ohio State football games have been on Big Ten Network. Not together, of course. But against Indiana or Purdue.

The SEC has announced that Farleigh Dickinson is starting a football program and joining the conference in order to get the network carriage in New York.

That would be the smart way to do it... There's enough national interest in Florida, LSU and Alabama that it is definitely in their best interest to get a few decent games on there the first couple years... The Big Ten network has had some pretty good games. I think during football season, this will basically be the Missouri, Vanderbilt and Kentucky network.
