SC Governor AWOL

Not sure if this needs to go in the Politics section, but South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford has left town and isn't letting anyone know where he is.
The list including SLED (State Law Enforcement Division), who is responsible for protecting him, family members and the Lt. Governor, who thus far is saying he hasn't been put in charge.

He's turned off his cell phone, and either people honestly don't know where he is or they are lying to cover up where he is. Sanford recently "lost" a very public fight over the stimulus money, and there has been serious talk that he was simply doing it to grandstand for the big job.

Either South Carolina is about to secede again or Sanford has a health issue he's trying to keep hush-hush. This is the kind of thing that leads to something else, at the very least rumors, that will dog him for years. George Costanza can have a secret hiding place, a governor should not.

The timing is a little strange, being Father's Day and all, but from the article it sounds like he has done this before, and plans on doing it again.
In my state, if the Guv leaves the state, the lt. gov. takes charge, so the governor here isn't prone to disappearing.
I guess I just assumed it was that way everywhere.

If he wasn't termed out at the end of the year, that wouldn't be a surprise. He's got a lot of enemies on both sides of the aisle after his stimulus bull****. Hell, the main guy criticizing him for this week's junk is a Republican.
