I guess this targets the editors of this fine online gathering, but I did want some feedback from this side of the fence as well.
Though an SID, my primary function is the Senior Writer/Historian/Columnist.
However, other have gotten in the way of me cranking out a couple of nice writes I've been wanting to tackle.
Instead, I get my broadcast guy to write the story of a cheerleader who becomes the first female ROTC commission in school history. He delivers.
Second was the story of a one-legged football player we had back in the 80s. Okay, it's not delegation but work with me. Bianchi calls and wants contact info. Wants to tie it in with the one-handed UCF LB. Of course I facilitate. Bianchi actually cranks outs some actual sports journalism.
Two stories I wanted to do, but two stories that were told and were told well.
For the editors -- when you deal an assignment and the result turns out well, what kind of satisfaction is there for you? And what is it for us writers when a colleague hits the home run?
Looking forward to a hopefully thought provoking exchange on this one.
