Samantha Bee calls Ivanka Trump a 'feckless c***' - CNNPolitics

"Ivanka Trump, who works at the White House, chose to post the second most oblivious tweet we've seen this week," Bee said. "You know, Ivanka, that's a beautiful photo of you and your child, but let me just say, one mother to another, do something about your dad's immigration practices, you feckless c***!"

"He listens to you," she added. "Put on something tight and low-cut and tell your father to f***ing stop it. Tell him it was an Obama thing and see how it goes, OK?"
Both CNN and TBS, which hosts Bee's show, are owned by Turner, a subsidiary of Time Warner.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said Bee's language was "vile and vicious."
"The collective silence by the left and its media allies is appalling. Her disgusting comments and show are not fit for broadcast, and executives at Time Warner and TBS must demonstrate that such explicit profanity about female members of this administration will not be condoned on its network," Sanders said.

I mean she’s right in the description. But expecting the daughter of that POS to be anything besides a feckless bad word is naive. His daughter doesn’t appeal to his better angels; she appeals to his groin.

"disgusting comments"!

Trump: Grab ’em by the *****. You can do anything.

I am very open to Trump bashing and laughing at the President's expense, but Samantha Bee is all over FB, and I have yet to find anything that made me crack a smile, let alone laugh. It reminds me of MASH or Growing Pains - it makes people feel good, so no one points out that comedy is supposed to be funny. Can someone more familiar with her work on FF post her best bit?

I posted this a while back; I don't think anyone replied.

Maybe they were turned off by your comparison to MASH, which at its worst was still funnier than Samantha Bee on her best day. Some of that is my appreciation of the former, but most is my lack of interest in or respect for Bee.

I already posted this elsewhere, but the attacks on Ivanka Trump for posting that picture are ridiculous. Attaching what she posted to the immigration problem is a bit of a reach. Bee's version, which was vulgar, is even worse.

Come on. She’s a true defender of liberal values. (Except when it comes to her own kids, in which case she and her husband certainly do not think they should be forced to move from their segregated public school on the UWS to a more diverse school near a housing project—regardless of how that might help the less fortunate.)

but what about ... but what about ...

Not a whatabout.

I see a lot of folks online unhappy with handing this "vile and vicious" administration another excuse to portray itself as being victimized.

Sorry for the comparison, but you can't tell me that a vulgarian like Trump is in the least insulted by language like this.

And there's really no parallel to the Roseanne thing, either.

The point is, no one has yet been able to come up with anything funny that she's ever said. Shouldn't they just move her show to MSNBC and stop pretending that she's a comedian?

If it were a parallel to Roseanne, I'd have posted it in the Roseanne thread.

It's its own thing.

Beyond that, this: Trump being offended by it is not my bar. I don't think it's yours, either. If one of my senators yelled at Trump, at the SOTU speech, to go **** himself, well, of course I could think of worse things Trump has said or thought or even heard from others. But I still don't want my senator doing it.

Sarah wants someone on the left denounce Samantha.

You know why I think it's unlikely someone on the left will denounce Samantha Bee? For exactly the same reason many of the right are/were squeamish about denouncing Roseanne Barr. We've somehow gotten to a place where, even if we think something's wrong, the mere fact of criticizing it ohmygod might put us in league with them. What a ****ing mess.

Wasn't this discussed on another thread? We aren't going to have a zillion politics threads. Sorry, that's been made pretty clear.
