Phil at +8; Ernie at +7 - so much for taking advantage of a Tiger-less major.
My guess is that Sergio doesn't hold up under the pressure of being "the favorite."

The par-4 sixth is just brutal - playing to over 5 strokes so far today.

I'd put money on Angel Cabrera to win.

I would love, love to see Duval and Monty do well.

Each at only +2 right now, which has to feel like -4.

Chef - I agree on both points. I'd like to see Duval and Monty do well. Both are now at +3. Anything better than +4 is going to be a very good round today.

The wind this year, though, if it keeps up, may make any year's U.S. Open scores look like a round of putt-putt.

He played 40 holes in one day to qualify - the 36-hole qualifier and an endless five-for-four playoff - then only makes it nine holes in the actual tournament.

In the meantime, Freddy Jacobson loses in the playoff, gets in anyway because of his finish in DC, and now he's two shots off the lead.

I love the Open Championship if only because it lets nature dictate things. No rain, it's brown and caked. Lots of rain. The rough and heather grow like crazy. Play the conditions. The R&A doesn't care if it's 10 under or 10 under. Fine by me.
