Look out, South Florida.

It's way early, but that is a scary sort of path I haven't seen in a while.

Ike: "I'm sorry, Florida. I'm sorry, baby. I didn't mean it."

And soon-to-be-Josephine is right behind, between Africa and the Cape Verde islands.

NASCAR hurricanes.... I've never seen drafting off Cape Verde.

Re: Running soon-to-be Hurricane Ike thread

Do we need a new thread for every hurricane? Even before they develop?

Well, actually, this one is developed. And this is more actual news than what gets posted on the baseball thread most of the time.

This was so ****ing nails.

My first thought was "Tina Turner just filed for an EPO and she doesn't know why."

Sadly, I wasn't near a computer when that thought crossed my mind.

I concur with BYH.

STFU. Just because you're not in the gunsights yet doesn't mean you won't ever be. The only qualifying standard is "located on the east coast of the United States or the coast of the Gulf of Mexico." Guess what? You qualify.

And it's better than one verdammt running thread for the entire hurricane season. Somebody gets a dozen pages behind and suddenly you've lost a potential contributor because it's too much of a pain in the ass to catch up so they stop reading.

Re: Running soon-to-be Hurricane Ike thread

Started to pull the ol' big-swing-to-the-northeast route, but the latest NHC projections have it steering south of the Bahamas, possibly south of Cuba and into the Gulf of Mexico. Here we go again, folks ...
