I don’t really follow college hockey, but I must say the rise of UConn hockey has been impressive: moved into Hockey East 10 years ago and already in the Frozen Four.

The WMU Broncos will play for the NCAA title after a 3-2 double OT win over Denver Thursday night.
 
And BU holds on to beat Penn State 3-1, denying cawlidge hawkey a final with TWO Frozen Four newbies.
Aside from BU's cheapie first one, great goaltending on both sides - thank God Rubio didn't come after Russian student visa holders.😉
 
Anyone else bothered by the week off between the regionals and Frozen Four? Only a few competing schools have more interest in basketball than hockey and there are basketball fans who don't care about hockey and vice versa. In any event the way it works now is much better than it was when I attended in the late 70s. Back then they had one semifinal on Thursday and one on Friday. Championship on Saturday. Big advantage to the team which played Thursday.
 
The Frozen Four was chalk in its own way. 1, 2, 3 and 4, and 1 beats 2 in the final.
What is it about freshman goalies in the finals? BU's last two titles were won by freshman goalies who were never that good again. But hey, WMU has a spanking new arena to recruit to. The Broncos are here to stay, unlike NM, Lake State or Miami.
 
The coolest thing for me was all the different university sweaters among the fans. Talked to couples sporting Maine and Omaha at Union Station. Lots of Minnesota sweaters (also Mankato). Saw several Ivies ... and Army.
Our seats were among the Western fans lower level near the goal BU defended twice. Three groups of people asked us to take selfies for them.
It was a good experience.

In case it doesn't show up ... a reporter asked WMU players and the coach how they got to St. Louis after winning, imagining it to be "not an easy trip to make."

"Well, we're in the lower peninsula... You just take the highway to Chicago, and take 55 down."

I mean ... Google Maps IS a thing! LOL
