Former Dolphins great, longtime sportscaster in South Florida. Mad Dog was 62.

RIP. Seems like that era of Dophins has been pretty lucky healthwise as compared to say The Steelers.

Jim Mandich was truly one of a kind and men like him don't come around too often. I was lucky enough to get to know him over the last four years during my work for Dolphins.com and Mad Dog was the epitome of class. He was as genuine as they come and will be greatly missed here in South Florida and everywhere else he has touched people. RIP Mad Dog.

Sounds like he was a good dude.

I remember him from the undefeated team. Had a nice NFL career.

RIP Mr. Mandich.

Holy crow. Great voice and insight. He would really let them have it.

Yeah, but he also was a homer. Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwright, Miiiiiiiiiiaaaaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmmmiiiiiiii!!!!!

And that's okay to be proud of an undefeated pro sports team you played on.
Vern Den Herder, Merc, Csonk, **** Anderson ... all of them can and should be proud.
Until someone goes undefeated in the NFL again (don't tell me about the 14 games/16 games/more playoff games argument) we will be stuck with only that great Miami team of '72.
They beat my at-that-time-beloved, dual-quarterbacked Redskins team in a Super Bowl that got interesting in the fourth quarter.

RIP Jim Mandich

As a longtime Dolphins fan, I am in mourning.
He was a homer, no doubt, but he could be as critical as they come when it called for it.
His call-in show was solid and his analysis on games was superb.
I'll toast a green lizard to you and drive with the windows down Mad Dog.
RIP.

Even though he lived in South Florida, he still got back to Michigan and supported the Wolverines financially. He was definitely a key figure in the 1969 U-M upset of that school one state south.
