Will they allow women into the funeral?
that statement wasnt exactly rife with personal anecdotes. I think of a guy called him Hootie and picture the life of the party.
I'm guessing they both shared a week spot for cocaine?Spoken like a man unfamiliar with former Bama AD Hootie Ingram.
I bet the Blowfish are inconsolable.
Despite the Burk thing - Johnson was about as progressive as it gets in South Carolina. Among the first people with juice to call for the Confederate flag to be removed from the capitol.
Also chairman of Bill Clinton's South Carolina campaign -- twice.Despite the Burk thing - Johnson was about as progressive as it gets in South Carolina. Among the first people with juice to call for the Confederate flag to be removed from the capitol.
Yeah, what bull**** it was. **** dem dames. Next thing you know the coloreds will want to play. The story for years was that Augusta was in the process of admitting a female member when Martha Burk started her bull****. They put the brakes on that so that it wouldn't look as though they had done it because of public pressure.
When someone controversial like this dies, I often wonder: as death approached, and he knew he once had the choice of going down in history as someone who supported change rather than someone who blocked change, is he (or she) at peace with that choice?
Because that seems like it should be the end game for all of us. Be at peace with your choices.
I didn't get too worked up over the Martha Burk battle. Hootie looked and sounded like an old fool and didn't do himself any PR favors. And I lean toward people being allowed to make their own rules at a private club. Women were eventually going to be admitted, so his fight was going to be short-lived.
But, on the other hand, the Masters had no commercials that year. So that was fantastic.
