I didn't get too worked up over the Martha Burk battle. Hootie looked and sounded like an old fool and didn't do himself any PR favors. And I lean toward people being allowed to make their own rules at a private club. Women were eventually going to be admitted, so his fight was going to be short-lived.

But, on the other hand, the Masters had no commercials that year. So that was fantastic.

Hootie took the heat, but don't think he wasn't carrying out the wishes of the membership. It's why league commissioners get paid so well - they have to be the public face of unpopular positions.
