Hackman's estate was worth $80m. Nothing was left to the kids. Everything was left to the wife. Of course they've proved that she died first, so it is likely to revert to the people who didn't even both to know he was dead.

Yes, since he died after her, I'm pretty sure that's how it works, that it will go to his children.

An article I read said the children were mentioned in the will, as well as it leaving everything to the wife. I don’t know what was said about them in the will but it is possible there was a clause disinheriting all the children. I’m guessing such a clause would be included, otherwise they could have challenged everything going to the wife (assuming New Mexico estate law doesn’t have some unusual twists). The article also said everything would end up in a trust but no one knows the terms of the trust.

I have a ton of respect for Gene Hackman. However, he was 95 ****ing years old. This obsession over the manner of his death is kind of over the top. Sadly, old people die in this manner rather frequently.

Its odd. My first thought when the news was reported was that Hackman was dying, the wife didn't want to go on without him and so it was an assisted suicide, suicide thing with the dog thrown in because they all wanted to be together. And I thought THAT was weird and tragic.

I watched The Conversation the other day. Very good Gene Hackman vehicle. And, oh by the way, Francis Ford Coppola directed this Best picture nominee in between The Godfather and The Godfather II.
