I know two of the photographers who got laid off, one of whom took a bullet in the shoulder while covering the revolution in Haiti in 2004. Not too many people left from my days there (1986-2011).

The handful of remaining staffers are forming a union. Good for them, I guess. A couple of people I still know there are missing from the list of names. Story says 88% of people joined.

Don't know, but they felt they had no choice. Layoffs in 2022, 401(k) match removed in 2023, no raises in 14 of the past 17 years.

I just can't imagine. One, I delivered the Sun-Sentinel during summer breaks while in college. Two, worked sports agate there in 1980 while I was trying to get a radio gig. At the time, Fort Lauderdale had two really good sports staffs (and were excellent once I left).

Plus, I know the folks at the Miami Herald had a pretty nice view, but walking out of the Sun-Sentinel building and seeing all the yachts docked on the New River was pretty amazing.
