Here's your Sunday reading... ??? ???
Long story short: Manet exhibit opened last fall in Toledo. The exhibit moved on to London in late Jan. and in reviews done by art critics over there, they do not mention that it began in the Midwestern town.
That leads to an "investigation" as to why the Brits "snubbed" the Toledo Museum of Art...

And now those hardworking kids from Toledo won't get that curating scholarship to Oxford.

People used to thing Bush was singing "There's no sex in Rhode Island" in Everything Zen ...

The (great) song:

I will say that for the city's relatively small size and economic power, the art museum in Toledo is pretty impressive. Libbey's clout at the turn of the century allowed it to be what it is. I used to spend hours in the Egyptian exhibit as a kid. But I wouldn't expect people in London to be able to pinpoint Toledo on a map.

That should have been a blog post, not a big story.
THIS! Instead, it was made into a 4-story, 2-page expose with multiple sidebars.

They'd probably point to somewhere in Spain.

If I had to take a guess (and I know just enough about the inner workings of the Blade to be dangerous), I'd say that the art museum is one of the Blocks' pet projects, and this is something that stuck in their craw. So a staff writer and a British freelancer had to write this and it had to be blown up in print.
That's just my opinion, though.

So what if snooty Londoners snub a fine Ohio city? Who cares what the French think anyway?

Those Brits might know where Toledo is a little more after this:

Running coach quits amid sex scandal.

As Elvis Costello sang with Burt Bacharach:

But do people living in Toledo
Know that their name hasn't traveled very well?
And does anybody in Ohio
Dream of that Spanish citadel?
