Hey everybody... Quad City's looking for a "sports journalist", per jjobs.com. This paper seems like it's one of Lee's better ones in the chain, but anyone else wanna discuss the merits of the Times?

I highly recommend the newspaper, and the job.

Great staff, great paper, great sports area. There's a PGA Tour event (John Deere Classic), minor league teams in baseball and hockey, AF2, the Bix 7 road race, and outstanding preps on the Iowa and Illinois sides of the Mississippi River.

This will probably be a preps/GA job (I don't know if there's any desk work involved), from what I hear.

Good area to live in (there are some bad neighborhoods, but not a surprise given the size of the metro area).

One of their correspondents who went to full-time and is going back to being correspondent because he's pursuing another career path, from what I understand.

I echo JB's thoughts on the QC spot. It's a great place to have a job and have plenty of things to follow on a daily basis.

I have worked at this newspaper, and it's a good start-up job. If you're willing to work, they'll give you great opportunities.

Two people have been in to interview but the search goes on.

Do you know if they're still accepting resumes for the position? I noticed on the jjob site that the ad expires Sept. 14, but from my own experience/looking at various threads, once a place begins interviews, they stop accepting resumes.

Andrew Petersen put a post out there. He's leaving Decatur for Quad Cities. Wondering if it's for this opening

If he is, good for him. Don Doxsie will take good care of him and he'll grow into the job.
