Deep in the hearta (enemy territory)
We remember the assistant DA that was shot in Kaufman County, Texas in January as he was walking into the courthouse.

It's happened again. The county's main DA and his wife were found shot in their home on Saturday.

Couple these with the Colorado prison director shooting (whose killer was found in Texas), and it sure looks like neo-Nazi gangs have declared war on the justice system. And Texas may be their headquarters.

Always tragic when people turn to Second Amendment solutions to their grievances with the guvment.

It's a shame that there wasn't a good guy with a gun to stop those bad guys.

This is horrible. Prosecutors and judges getting gunned down is unfortunately commonplace in so many countries of the world. This is one trend we shouldn't copy.

It's okay to crack jokes because they were white and republican!

The white Republicans are the ones who are supplying us with this material.

There can, and should, be an honest discussion on the issue. But instead, all we get are little catchphrases repeated over and over again, such as "They're taking away your guns!" It's kinda hard to have a discussion when the other side does little more than screaming.

Little catchphrases repeated over and over again, such as "I thought all the real Americans live in Texas and have guns" and "It's a shame there wasn't a good guy with a gun to stop those bad guys" and "If only it were illegal to kill people"?

We're mocking what they repeat. Should I have used a "Guns don't kill people," joke?

Please point to when a single Republican on this board suggested that real Americans are from Texas.

When you fail, please consider which side is lowering the level of discourse here.

I seem to recall a great deal of media "concern" whenever "the New Black Panther Party" threatened anybody.

So the Aryan Brotherhood issues public threats and prosecutors actually start turning up dead.

Be interesting to see if the press makes something of it.

Until then, it's worth tracking down David Grann's New Yorker piece on the Aryan Brotherhood.

It will also be interesting to see if the press even touches the cartel angle, which is much more plausible than the Aryan Brotherhood. The DA in question had exactly zero cases involving the Aryan Brotherhood. Not saying it was or was not the AB, but the cartel would be much more likely.

Who said anything about this board? I'm referring to Republicans in general.

Such as this pastor: ""We believe an armed society is a peaceful society. This is Texas, and everybody has a gun.""

Or one of our favorite governors:

"Republican Gov. Rick Perry said last month that the effort by the "political left" and news media to exploit the Connecticut massacre to push for gun-control measures "disgusts me." "

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/02/17/guns-are-a-way-of-life-in-texas/1926763/

Or maybe explain why our friend Glenn has a book titled "Real America"?

Why?

Kaufman County is quite a distance from the border.

Why should this board fall victim to the trappings of political cliche? Can't we have a more enlightened conversation?

Government of any structure doesn't work when the justice system cannot enforce laws. This issue has little to do with the two political parties. Neither can function with terrorism from anarchist groups poisoning the system.

It is quite a bit closer to the border than it is to where the Colorado killing the AP is trying to link this to occurred.

DA was a gun owner and even boasted that "I'm ahead of everybody else ..."

Um, guess not.

The AP is reporting the ABs are the prime suspects because that's what the LEOs are telling them.

In December, Texas DPS issued an alert that the ABs were planning revenge against the agencies that helped get the indictments against 34 of their brothers. The Kaufman County DA's office was one of those agencies.
