Nominated for a Grammy for "Please Come To Boston." Better known perhaps around here for the Masters theme music used by CBS.

Also wrote "Pieces of April" for Three Dog Night. Had a No. 1 hit duet with Anne Murray.

And not just Tennessee. Presumably Loggins meant his hometown of Mountain City, as far back in the hills as you can get in the very northeast corner of the state.

Yep, ABC started broadcasting the Olympic theme in 1968. "Heavy Action" first used for MNF in 1976. Didn't think I'd go down this rabbit hole tonight but it beats CNN.

How much time did MNF spend with Hank Jr. belting out his own theme song? Might explain it.

That's a good point, though I think the MNF theme was still used then, maybe as commercial buffers?

According to this story, the Hank Jr. MNF theme debuted in 1989. I was out of the country then and don't remember it, but that seems awfully early.

“Heavy Action” went from secondary theme to main theme, back to secondary when Hank Williams Jr. came along, then back to main.

ABC began using the ditty from Leo Arnaud’s “Bugler’s Dream” (from a 1959 Capitol Records album called “Charge”) for the 1964 Winter Olympics, and all its Olympics thereafter. NBC combined it with John Williams’ 1984 Olympic fanfare for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.

Dave Loggins’ “Augusta” dates to 1982, so 43 consecutive Masters.

“The Hockey Theme” by Dolores Claman debuted on “Hockey Night in Canada” in October 1968 on CBC. The network didn’t meet Claman’s price for a renewal in 2008. CTV immediately bought the tune and assigned it to TSN and RDS hockey broadcasts. The 57th season of use is three months away. Unless Gillette is running “Look Sharp” on a regular basis, there’s the record holder.

At least she was consistent. She didn’t want to live with him when he was poor and unsuccessful and crashing with friends in Boston and didn’t want to live with him in LA among the stars and in the house overlooking the ocean.
