Perfect Cain!!!

Actually, I'm still of the belief no-hitters and perfect games should get their own threads. Without this thread, I would have had no idea there was a perfect game last night.

Nothing against the Dallas Bradens or Phil Humbers of the world but these achievements always seem better to me when they happen for a true stud like Cain. Gregor Blanco's catch will be talked about for a long time in San Francisco, too, I imagine.

If it helps, Buster Olney just tweeted a no-hitter alert in anticipation of Verlander pitching at Wrigley Field today.

C'mon folks, start a freakin thread for this stuff. Running threads have killed this board. Used to be a great way to scan for headlines and news. No more.

Agree completely.

No alert? I WAS THERE!!! What excitement. The 9th was like a rock concert.

Awesome! I was at Yankee Stadium for Wells' perfecto in '98. It's something you will never forget. I was never a big autograph guy, but I woe try to get Cain's sig on the ticket.

So was I. Beanie Baby Day.

Since this was pretty much pre-internet the town was electric after the game. I remember answering a ton of questions on the subway after the game and on the streets.

Which catch will be more memorable: Wise's or Blanco's?

Blanco's was the better catch. Wise's was in the ninth inning.

Tough call.

Same here. This is the first I've heard of it.
Good for Cain.

The new Cain plan: zero-zero-zero.
That's actually the first thing I thought when I read this thread title - something about Herman Cain.

Happened to me on the Weaver no-hitter.

I'm surprised someone would get chippy about a stand-alone no-hitter thread. At that point, running threads have jumped the shark.

I recall how gingerly I posted a thread about Derrick Rose's ACL tear, bracing for the backlash.

If I had started this one, Moddy would have already locked it.

I have watched the play at least a dozen times, and more than the catch, I will never be able to figure out why Blanco was stationed there in the first place. You can kind of see it on the video, but on the telecast last night they showed the pre-pitch view and it is staggering how much space he was giving up in right field. As fast as Blanco is, a routine flyball 15 feet from the line still probably would have dropped.

I'm kidding. Goes back to the Hamilton thread.

I get how tight the crew is, but, man, you guys don't have to jump to each other's defense every single thread. Everyone's a grown-up here.

I will also never forget being a little hung over and a lot lazy, and passing on tickets for that the game because the drive in from the Poconos was too far. Sorry to interrupt the bickering. (Never used the quote function, in my years of posting, so also sorry if I screwed this up)

No bickering. I don't bicker any more. Place is 100 times more enjoyable since I stopped battling people. Moddy makes jokes about how no one is allowed to talk about the Nationals. I made a joke about him locking my Josh Hamilton thread. IJAG got chippy about it because she is a loyal person who stands up for her friends on here, but didn't necessarily need to here.
