Hate to out myself as a fogey but I remember when this awards show started, I think **** Van Dyke hosted the first several years and it was aired on Saturday. Even at my young age at the time I thought it odd that they showed only one of the nominees for each category and pictures for the other nominees. And the person who was there won every award. I thought that was odd.
I can't believe this show has gotten to the point it has now as the "first" award show of the season. Glad to hear Glee won - usually it goes to a CBS show.

On Hugh Laurie: The commercial they're running for next week's "House" is cracking me up. Trying to figure out what drug their patient is on, House ends up yelling at a guy "GIVE ME THE DRUGS!" When the guy only offers a puzzled look, House muses "Huh. It always works for Jack Bauer..."

They make jokes regarding other Fox shows on House all the time. I love it. But Hugh Laurie is so great. I don't know if any actor on television delivers lines as well as that guy does...and his American accent is perfect. He's just good. Really good. He's the Robert Downey, Jr. of television these days.

Not to continue my threadjack, but the first season DVD of House has a neat story on it (in the extras). While casting the lead, director Bryan Singer was adamant about not seeing any Brits for the role. His aides saw Laurie's tape and snuck it into the stack.
Singer saw it, and being unfamiliar with Laurie, walked up to the screen and said something to the point of "See? Here's an American who nailed it. A Brit couldn't do that."
Then, the aides let him in on their secret and Laurie was cast.
Kinda cool, really.

I watched parts of the show with my family while working.

I knew the name Tyler Lautner but had never seen him. Every time they mentioned his name I got to mansqueal " He's so dreamy!" much to my 12 year old daughter's dismay.

I also claimed that he looked like he was david Archuletta's long lost brother, agin amusing to me, to everyone else, not so much.

Put me in the Hugh Laurie/House fan camp as well.

Earlier this season they had a line about the resemblance of the Omar Epps charcter to Mike Tomlin, appreciate the self awareness the show has.

On Wolf-boy: Yeah, he's a good-looking chap. The thing I'm struck with, though, is that facially he does look a bit lupine. That's kind of neat, seeing as he's playing a werewolf.
