I've never liked Summit as a person, but as a coach and motivator, she's second to none in that regard. Quality coach all the way around. This ought to be fun.

My Pat Summitt story...

Was covering the Florida state high school girls hoop championships a few years back, Summitt was there watching a signed recruit. She promised she'd come watch if the player took her team to the title game, and she delivered. So this was not a business trip, and she didn't like the attention from media. Our photographer snapped a few pics from afar, thought it no big deal.

Well, we got back to the office and the photog starts looking at the shots. One made us both jump back-- Summitt is staring straight into the camera with those piercing eyes and an "I don't appreciate this" look (that's the PG-13 description). Kind of reminded me of the SI cover from a few years back. The photographer didn't even remember Summitt looking in the camera's direction, but she did for a split-second. It was downright creepy.

I kept that print on my desk for years...

She became Tennessee's head coach right out of college at age 22, as I recall.

The work she had done before last season didn't, in the long run, help her looks any. It wasn't as severe as Jerry Jones, but it was quite obvious that she'd gone under the knife.

I had to work with her a fair amount a few years ago and I don't have a bad thing to say about her.
