Now, if you're pissed about a fellow SportsJournalists.commer saying that, check out the illustrious Rev. Jackson.

Not a fan of Jesse. Really not a fan. (btw, would anyone in their right mind ever say someone is 'acting white' or 'acting black'? Sheesh.)

What's wrong with having an articulate, upstanding, community-minded African-American professional running for President?

Apparently "articulate" is code dispariging other African-Americans. Not sure if upstanding and community-minded are as well, but we had a tl;dr discussion about articulate a few months ago. Or was that the sarcastic part?

Nothing except there hasn't been one since Shirley Chisholm

Exactly. But the "cultural divide" between blacks has widened since Shirley and Adam Clayton Powell.

That ain't whitey's fault.

Rev. Jackson doesn't act like he's black (or white).
He acts like a pompous twit.

Hear hear! Whitlock would be happy to read that.

Name your beer, brother. You too FH.

Jackson sharply criticized presidential hopeful and Illinois Sen. Barack Obama for “acting like he’s white” in what Jackson said has been a tepid response to six black juveniles’ arrest on attempted-murder charges in Jena, La. Jackson, who also lives in Illinois, endorsed Obama in March, according to The Associated Press.
“If I were a candidate, I’d be all over Jena,” Jackson said after an hour-long speech at Columbia’s historically black Benedict College.
“Jena is a defining moment, just like Selma was a defining moment,” said the iconic civil rights figure, who worked with Martin Luther King Jr. in the 1965 Selma civil rights movement and was with King at his 1968 assassination.
Later, Jackson said he did not recall making the “acting like he’s white” comment about Obama, stressing he only wanted to point out the candidates had not seized on an opportunity to highlight the disproportionate criminal punishments black youths too often face.

That's from The State.
I'm assuming that the reporter's recounting something he heard first hand.
If not, wow.

Jesse acts "clown." Big deal. He needs to STFU and make a child support payment.

Run, Jesse, run. Your mouth that is.

Plenty if you're a poverty pimp like Jesse. If Obama wins Jesse may actually have to get a job.

3/26/1988: Michigan Primary (D): Jackson 53.5%, Dukakis 29.0%, Gephardt 12.8%, Simon 2.1%, Gore 2.0%.

When Obama gets a result like that, y'all get back to me.

If Obama's top in-party competition was Dukakis, he'd get that easily.

Then why didn't Jackson receive the nomination?

I doubt it is this calculated... But this could be a brilliant ploy. Jackson is reviled by many whites. If he says, Obama is not black enough (i.e. not enough like Jackson), it is undoubtedly going to make Obama less threatening to whites who actually are threatened by a black man running for office. All of a sudden those people who won't vote for a black guy (but would never admit they are racist) are thinking, "He's a gentle black man who acts white. I can vote for him." or "Sure his skin is black. But he doesn't ACT black."

Would be smart if they actually were working in cahoots. Of course, that isn't the case.

Obama is half white, so maybe it's not an act.
