Not much support for OWS in the end. Only 200 or so were at the park.

Still plenty of support for OWS, I think. "200" was the maximum load for camping in the park. It's a relatively tiny space. So there have only been a couple hundred overnighters since it began. Numbers swell of course during the day.

It'll be interesting to see what the marches turn out this morning. Also interesting to see how many folks go back to the park.

He's instructed these people he disdains as to their vulnerability. Had he left them alone, they might have pottered around in public for another month of polite dissension and political holiday, before growing bored, fatigued or hoarse from repeating themselves instead of a cohesive agenda. Everyone might have gone home and thought about applying to an MBA program. Instead, Bloomberg's reminded them of the strength of the opposition, the weakness of themselves and the impotency of their weapons, and he has confirmed how much they need to extend their reach beyond cities' public squares to harness the resources of those who can't join them in person.

If NYC liberals are famous for anything, it's for having small apartments stuffed with books they'll never read (again).

So, some books that were taking up room ended up in Zuccotti Park.

Besides being a set up to cry about the destruction of books when a day like today inevitably came, it was pure plagiarism of the Tahrir Square demonstrations:

That's asking for a repeat court order with the word "contempt" used prominently. But Bloomberg doesn't care. His attitude towards the law, to wit, it doesn't apply to him, was made clear in the term limits fight.
