Multiple sources.

Re: Lee Roy Selmon dead?

Weird. He was quoted in a Tampa Tribune story about an NFL lawsuit just the other day:

RIP if true. Helluva player from a helluva football family.

Oklahoma spokesperson told sportsline he wasn't dead as of 7:37.

Prayers for Lee Roy. If he wasn't breathing when the paramedics arrived, that doesn't sound good.

Re: Hall of Famer Lee Roy Selmon Dead?

There was a bumper sticker circulating around Norman and the state of Oklahoma during the early 1970s that read, "Thank you Mrs. Selmon"

Prayers sent up here for Lee Roy Selmon

Wouldn't want to be the pr person who sent out that release.

Re: Hall of Famer Lee Roy Selmon Suffers Stroke

Oklahoma spokesperson said he spoke to the family and said that LRS' brother said LRS has a 20 percent chance to make it.

Again, information courtesy of sportsline.

Re: Hall of Famer Lee Roy Selmon Suffers Stroke

As of now it appears as though he's alive, but he is in very serious condition.

Most fans will remember him as a great player for Tampa, but he is also (arguably) the greatest player to put on an Oklahoma uniform. My prayers are with his family

Re: Hall of Famer Lee Roy Selmon Suffers Stroke

I remember a reporter telling/bragging to a PR guy that he was the first person to report that a certain former player had died.

PR Guy: If you're waiting around for me to congratulate you then you're going to be here awhile. Get a ****ing life.

Prayers to the Selmon family.

It's hard to believe that really happened.

Re: Hall of Famer Lee Roy Selmon Suffers Stroke

How good was Selmon? He played his entire career in Tampa and waltzed into the HOF. That should say a lot.

I've always had a favorite Selmon story. He was Lee Roy, but in school it was changed to Leroy by a teacher who told him he couldn't spell his own name. Selmon never said a thing and went through the next 15 years as Leroy. Wasn't until he was in Tampa that he used Lee Roy.

Also, the Selmon boys used an old bucket to play football as kids because they didn't afford a real football.

Re: Hall of Famer Lee Roy Selmon Suffers Stroke

Wow. Best wishes to the Selmon family from a Tampa Bay kid.

Re: Hall of Famer Lee Roy Selmon Suffers Stroke

This sucks. All the best to Lee Roy.

Those 70s unis gave real meaning to the colors crimson and cream.
