We are looking for someone to lead our NFL draft coverage for football.com.
This person will handle our mock drafts and will provide independent, original, strong opinion on draft-eligible players. Ideally, they will watch a lot of video and in turn provide lots of analysis either through rankings or breakdowns of individual players.
To a lesser degree, they will help coordinate coverage by the four other people focused on the draft (one in each region of the country).
Much of the pre-draft analysis tends to regurgitate and form conglomerate rankings. We want someone who maybe makes the audience aware of the consensus, but hammers them with strong, original opinions.
This person will bear a good deal of responsibility, particularly in the months leading up to the draft and shortly after.
The company sees this person as the top of the list in terms of priorities among writers. We want to make this person a star for us, and we will promote them heavily on the site and through social media.
We have some unique tools that will help fans build professionally-formatted mock drafts and share them easily on social media. This also will result in site-wide stats based on mocks done by our audience (for example, we will know if the average football.com user has Geno Smith going 8.2 overall).
The position has great possibility for national visibility, long-term financial goodness and creative leeway.
