Small paper (under 20K at this point), but still 131-year paper in danger of being shut down.

Can't necessarily say the same about news (let alone management), but the sports staff (four full-timers plus two interns) are good people.

The interesting thing is what effect this could have on the Star Ledger/Newhouse (they own this paper). The Ledger has basically relied on the Journal for all of their Hudson County stuff.

No, Devil, the Ledger has never relied on the JJ for its Hudson County stuff. At one point, any JJ pro copy came from the Ledger. Now, there is no pros other than wires in the JJ.
The Ledger has never made a push into JC because Newhouse wanted the JJ to survive. NO JJ copy EVER has appeared in the Ledger.
Killing the JJ actually helps the Ledger. Newhouse just gives those 20,000 people in Hudson County the Ledger instead of the Journal.

The Journal has been functionally dead for about 10 years.

Will keep publishing "for now", according to E&P
