This position covers local sports, outdoor recreation, plus some city and general news; must be able to develop story ideas, take photographs, design pages, develop sources, prepare website updates, and work in a cooperative team environment. Fixed in the name of accuracy. The EOPC may be based in Salem, but the Eagle is much farther east in John Day.

Not sure what "local sports" would entail other than Grant Union High School.

GU typically has pretty good baseball -- granted in the smallest classification in Oregon.

Not sure what "local sports" would entail other than Grant Union High School.

Probably a couple of Class A schools (Monument, Prairie City, Dayville) added in. EDIT: And I'm sure there's a rodeo. Beautiful country if you're outdoorsy but seriously way past the end of the road on US 26.

Bend (an interesting town) is isolated enough, and John Day is three hours from there. The highlight of the main (only) intersection in town is a Dairy Queen.

Bend never struck me as all that isolated simply because there's enough to do other than outdoorsy stuff there.
