Hard hittin' New Britain.

I was told to never live there for fear of my life. So take that for what it's worth. I googled 'crime reports New Britain' and the sex offender count is REALLY high.

I'm guessing on the salary that they'd pay, you might have to actually live in New Britain, which you definitely don't want to do.

a smart man/woman told you that, although a nice swath of hartford is almost as bad.

There was always that vibe driving around New Britain...that on every street corner lurked a skeevy old man hoping to take you for a "walk."

That said, its bark--at least in terms of being a horrible place to live--is worse than its bite. It's just a crappy town. Not great, not a safe place in a bunch of spots, but I can think of five or six worse towns in CT alone.

As for the gig...I'll be back in a minute.

Oh, I was also told to avoid Hartford. West Hartford, good. Western part of Hartford? Bad.

Not completely sure about that IJAG. Some of it, yeah, but there are parts of the West End on the border that are decent.

Well I think it was more in a "You're moving from out of town and you won't have a chance to actually go look at any of these areas" kind of thing. I'm sure now that I'm in state, it will be easier to figure out what's good and bad.

From Va.? Much easier to just avoid the whole city than get screwed.

that's weird. i usually go into the city to get screwed.

Ha, yeah that's probably not a bad attitude when dealing with most of Hartford.

As someone who went to school in that area. That would be correct. Good luck affording a place in West Hartford on a newspaper salary.
