Need Elmore Leonard Recommendation

I'm going away for 5 days and I want to read an Elmore Leonard novel, it will be my first. Looking for recommendations for the quintessential book or just your favorite.

I went through my list of authors I thought I 'd read this week, Pynchon, DeLillo, Roth, Greene, but I didnt want ot have to work that hard.

Please, I'm leaving in the morning. I can download to my kindle.

It's been years since I read them, but my favorites were Glitz and Freaky Deaky.

Read Be Cool not long ago. That's good stuff.

Get Shorty is pretty good.

Rum Punch (on which Jackie Brown is based) is another good one.

The Moonshine War is kind of different, but it's well-written.

I liked Pronto a lot. Get Shorty, Rum Punch and Cat Chaser are also good.

I can't remember why, but I was partial to Unknown Man No. 89. I read a bunch of his books in a short period, then I got tired of him. There was a character named **** Speed in this one. Here's an excerpt.

Glitz was the first I read. Really liked Get Shorty, and also 52 Pickup.

Won't go wrong with any of them, but I enjoyed Freaky Deaky and Maximum Bob.

Rum Punch is his best work, IMO... Get Shorty is Great. Out of Sight is great.

I liked Jackie Brown, but if Tarantino had been true to Rum Punch, it could have been an all-timer.

For whatever reason, Tarantino was more interested in resurrecting Pam Grier's career (and probably in trying to bang her) than in trying to make a great movie.
