Following up on the "Penultimate" thread, can we designate anything "..... Nation" to the dust bin? Apart from the fascist connotation, it is way overused and tired.

Red Sox Nation, Patriots Nation, Kids Nation, Cardinals Nation, Cubs Nation, Trojan Nation, Idiot Nation, Aryan Nation, Cliche Nation, Lazy Nation, Lemming Nation, Illiterate Nation.

All of it, please. Make it go away.

You forgot Uri Nation.

I can't tell you how much I agree with you, In_Exile. It's trite and lazy. I've actually e-mailed a sportswriter acquaintance of mine who uses this all the time to tell him to stop. He hasn't.

C'mon Doc, I hear it all the time. I also hear Packers Nation and it makes me want to puke.

"Red Sox Nation" was kinda cute before they won the WS, now that label is annoying and all the spinoffs are even worse.

It's my happening ... and so on ...

What were the original Nations? Raider Nation? Red Sox Nation? It feels like there were some original uses of the term that fit well, but then everyone started using it.

I, for one, can do without the whole damn Sabanation... Not Saban Nation, but Sabanation
