Mike Finger promoted to sports columnist at San Antonio Express-News

After spending the last few months doing double duty as both the University of Texas beat writer and Spurs Nation magazine columnist for the Express-News, Mike Finger has been promoted to sports columnist.

Finger replaces Buck Harvey, who recently retired after filling that role for three decades.

An award winning sportswriter, Finger has been at the Express-News since 1999. He has covered the Longhorns since 2009, but also has experience writing about the Dallas Cowboys, the Big 12 and the Spurs, along with covering half a dozen Final Fours and more than a dozen bowl games.

So when he writes a column critical of an athlete, coach or owner, will that be referred to as "giving him the Finger."
