I worked with a guy who wore someone's pro jersey to work every day.

Every day, without exception. He had dozens. And he was approaching 40.

I have never been a jersey guy. The only one I have is Mahomes and I won that from a Super Bowl bet. I wear it when I watch games, but even in the comfort of my own home or with family and friends, I feel silly wearing it. But dang it, I won a bet and want to get some use out of it. That said, up until the the 2025 Super Bowl, it had been good luck.

Maybe I need to get a Blazers jersey to spur them to winning a title in my lifetime.

As far as general sports team wear. I have way too many shirts and hats of my alma matter's. So much, that it's a joke among my family. But hey, when you can find Nike stuff for cheap at T.J. Maxx, why not?

The store encourages workers to wear NFL jersies on Sunday, but given the rapid turnover in rosters and the cost. can't justify the expense. The last time I went to the local sports shop, 49ers Trey Lanve and Jimmy G jersies were deeply discounted.

But what really gets my goat about the jersey craze is when I see, for example, someone wearing a Yankees jersey with
Ruth

on the back. Dude, if it's No. 3 in pinstripes, that it's Ruth is a given.

I know a guy who collects game worn hockey jerseys, not only an expensive habit but one that takes up a lot of room. I've collected a lot of stuff over my years in hockey but I have very fewer jerseys. I have a Blue Jays replica (Russell Martin, I think) and a couple Dolphins ones (OJ McDuffie and Jarvis Landry) that gather dust in the closet.

Not too many jerseys in my life, but definitely a few.

The first one I ever wanted, and had to have, was a Jim McMahon Bears authentic jersey. The only thing I had ever wanted as much in my life at that point was an Atari 2600 a few years earlier.

I wore it a lot and it held up. I still have it stashed away.

I’ve had a few others over the years. A Peyton Manning Colts jersey. An Eric Davis Reds jersey.

Still have a Pedro Martinez Mets jersey in the closet.

With apologies to @MisterCreosote, the only jersey I still wear every once in while is a Mets jersey with my name on it. I don’t feel like a loser, but if those are the rules I’m OK with it.

First "replica" jersey I bought was in the early '80s. Took my birthday money to a shop quite a distance away from my home, Bought an Expos hat and this jersey. Living in the Bay Area, it was like Marco Polo bringing back stuff from Asia to Europe. Loved the grey numbers, the way the black popped on the red - and the V-neck. It was sweet.

My favorite is Dr J NJ Nets throwback with vertical white and red stripes.

They were the New York Nets when Doc played for them.

I bought my wife a Hank Aaron jersey 20 years ago off eBay. We are talking one of the official sewn number jobs. I paid $50 for it brand new. We went to game at Turner Field, and those jerseys were $300.
I'm sure it just "fell off a truck" or something.
