Kanye's ongoing public meltdown

I can't believe this hasn't been discussed yet.

He's declared on Twitter that he's $53 million in debt, mostly because of his fashion line apparently. He's begged Mark Zuckerberg for money.

He says he needs money to be able to continue to fund his art and his ideas.

I would guess that if he dropped the fashion line, and concentrated on his music, and did an extensive tour, which managed its costs, he would be in the black pretty quickly.

I'm also having a hard time viewing his fashion line as art that deserves patronage.

Where's it go from here? (And, is he a victim of the Kardashian Kurse?)

I honestly think (armchair psychiatrist alert!) he still hasn't recovered from his mother's death. Granted, most of us don't respond to personal tragedy by starting Entertainment 720, but I doubt Kanye has many people in his life telling him no.

Sources connected to Kanye tell TMZ the number -- $53 mil -- reflects how much dough 'Ye has invested in his own companies related to fashion and music. For instance, we're told he's sunk $40 million alone into 3 seasons worth of Yeezy fashion!

Yeezy shoes are all the rage now, but we're told Kanye didn't get a dime from Nike when he created the first gen of the shoe. He funded the design out of his own pocket.

Additionally, we're told he spent several hundred thousands to build sets for his last tour, and to make his 2012 short film, "Cruel Summer."

The good news for Kanye is he'll make back his investment because he earns like crazy -- $22 million in 2015 and $30 million in 2014, according to Forbes.

So, maybe (and again, "sources" so who knows), he has a liquidity issue more than a debt issue.

Sounds like he really did plow a ton of money into his fashion line, and he puts on hugely expensive tours.

He has high day-to-day expenses.

Never liked him or his music, but it genuinely seems like he's having a mental breakdown. He supposedly went ballistic backstage at SNL, too, and he recently ranted that Cosby was innocent. Maybe it's all a ploy for attention, but there are better, savvier ways to do it than looking like someone who is losing their marbles like Amanda Bynes or Brittany Spears circa shaved head and swinging an umbrella. -
